// VISION //

Refugee Ministry Connect is a collaborative effort of refugee workers all over America who love Jesus and want to serve refugees more strategically and effectively. Our goal is to create a progressive hub that will help different ministries, churches, and like-minded individuals connect with each other and serve together in the arena of refugee ministry.

Cherie Gray. Visionary Director & RMC Tour Leader…the heart and passion behind this blog and the Refugee Ministry Connect Tour.  Cherie was born in New Mexico and raised in Arizona.  She obtained her BA from Northern Arizona University, and then her MA at Western Michigan University.  She was a teacher for blind for nine years and then for the past six years has been engaged in full time Kingdom work.  She has had numerous opportunities over the years to travel and live overseas.  Living in a city now that has one of the most dense populations of refugees in America, she strives to encourage local believers and churches to serve ‘the nations right in their backyards.’  She is the founder and director of Tucson Refugee Ministry, a catalyst to educate and mobilize churches to reach out to refugees in practical, tangible ways.  TRM now has approximately 100 volunteers from nearly 50 churches all over Tucson. Several churches have even started their own refugee ministries.  Cherie loves her job, but dreams often of living someplace green.  She loves chocolate, lattes, tea parties, dancing and lives for a good rainstorm.

Sandi Wisley. RMC Tour Partner; Ministry Mentor and Developer….Sandi and her husband, Tom, have lived overseas for 25 years in Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Japan.  In the l980’s Sandi directed World Relief Refugee Resettlement in Seattle.  They both teach with Development Associates Int’l in India and Africa, and have administered a study abroad program in West Papua, Fiji and Mexico. Sandi is a full time volunteer and representative of Tucson Refugee Ministry, engaging her church and others across Tucson in refugee ministry.  Even though many things have changed in refugee resettlement she still has great passion and many skills which can be used for new arrivals in America.  She sincerely believes that God has brought these new Americans here so that they may know Him.  Sandi is a mother of four and grandmother of eight, six of whom live overseas, and a great-grandmother to two little boys.  She is fluent in at least three languages.

Laura K. Moore. Communications Assistant…the sparkly little brain that attempts to make all of Cherie’s awesome ideas a reality. Particularly fond of pineapple, pistachios and funny people–she is a newbie to the refugee ministry and is excited to use her background in marketing and communications to help beef up this challenging and crucial ministry nation-wide.

Lawson Moore. Technical Director and Graphic Designer…the workhorse of all things techy and otherwise infuriating to most all other normal people. Also new to the refugee ministry

Bonnie. Logistic Director…gifted with an immense attention to detail, Bonnie has been the logistic genius (and budgeting accountability) during the conceptual development of RMC Tour Debut. As director of Phoenix Refugee Ministry and avid traveler, she has actively been involved with the strategic networking of refugee workers, like-minded ministries and companies and has been a huge advocate in connecting with pivotal sponsors that fuel both the RMC Tour and the heart of this networking initiative.  Bonnie has been loving and serving refugees for 15 years.
